It is not often that the anticipation of a new video game each year is almost as exciting as the real sport itself returning to action. Madden and NBA 2K22 however are the lone two exceptions.
For years now, Madden has been one of the most popular video games not only amongst children and teens but adults as well. They have created a brand in which everyone rushes to preorder the game despite knowing what the new changes in gameplay are, game modes, settings, etc.
It is almost like people pre-ordering the new iPhone each year. You are not sure what it is exactly going to look like, but you need to have it as soon as possible.
On August 20th, 2021 Football fans all around the world will finally be able to get their hands on this year’s version of the game which features 7-time Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady, and his counterpart in the Super Bowl, Patrick Mahomes.
There is a theory of the so-called “Madden Curse ” in which players that are featured on the cover, often struggle with their actual production on the field.
This year, however, I am pretty confident that the “Madden Curse” will not come into effect with those two guys.
Something that has generated some steam lately has been the anticipation of Madden ratings being revealed. It has drawn some instant reaction from not only the players themselves, but retired stars as well.
Something that I think was a great move on EA Sports’ part, is that they came up with the exact ratings for these players this time around with the help of guys like Chad Ochocino, Vince Wilfork, and Marshawn Lynch.
These guys were specifically hired to help come up with these ratings based on their position group. For example, Ochocinco focused on the receivers, Vine Wilfork took the defensive line, and Marshawn Lynch was in charge of the running backs.
Due to the fact that these guys had so much success in The NFL, their rating of a specific player adds more validity to Madden and draws more conversation than it has in recent years.
How Does 2K Draw Excitement to Fans
Similarly to Madden, NBA 2K has drawn a lot of attention recently.
Not too long ago, NBA Live by EA Sports was the preferred basketball video game. As of now, however, NBA 2K has completely taken over which has forced EA Sports to stop producing their NBA games entirely.
NBA 2K22 is set to officially release on September 10th, 2021. This year’s cover will be Luka Doncic who has been the main spotlight in the NBA as soon as he came in the league seemingly.
He has been the most recognizable international player since Dirk Nowitzki, and I presume he will surpass him not too long from now. After all, he is only 22 years old.
Something that 2K does exceptionally well is the promotion of their MyTeam game mode. Those who have the game are able to create their own team by collecting a certain amount of coins which can be used to purchase packs. These coins are primarily collected through real money which is where NBA 2K makes most of their revenue.
New cards in the game are released pretty frequently, which keeps the user excited to keep playing the game, in order to improve their team against other players online.
The promotion of 2K has reached actual NBA games as well which shows how far this game has come. I only anticipate it gaining more popularity as soon as September 10th rolls around.
Madden and NBA 2K22 are bound to have another successful year. Here’s hoping the gameplay alterations and additions will live up to the hype!
