EA Sports is slowly unveiling player ratings for “Madden NFL 22” throughout the week on various ESPN platforms. Things began on Sunday, July 25 with a Kickoff Special at 12:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. The special revealed some of the initial rookie ratings along with the ratings of random players.
The full ratings release schedule is as follows: Monday (July 26): Wide receivers Tuesday (July 27): Defensive linemen, edge rushers Wednesday (July 28): Running backs Thursday (July 29): Safeties Friday (July 30): Quarterbacks.
With all of these ratings released now, was Madden correct with them or not?
Let’s start off with the players who are the highest rated which is 99 overall. Davante Adams Aaron Donald Travis Kelce Jalen Ramsey and Patrick Mahomes are the players who were ranked 99. I think all of these players are deserving of their 99 overall, I may have added Aaron Rodgers who was the MVP of the league and maybe Derrick Henry as well.
Four players finished at 98 overall and those players include Tyreek Hill, Christian McCaffrey, Myles Garrett and Zack Martin. We’d imagine some mix of those players will be involved in the Madden 22 version of the 99 Club. It’ll be interesting to see if Mahomes, Kelce and Hill can become a 99 Club trio on the same team.
Let’s talk about the running back ratings now.
- Christian McCaffrey: 97
- Derrick Henry: 96
- Nick Chubb: 96
- Dalvin Cook: 95
- Alvin Kamara: 94
- Aaron Jones: 91
- Saquon Barkley: 90
- Josh Jacobs: 89
- Ezekiel Elliott: 88
- Joe Mixon: 88
I agree these are arguably the 10 best running backs in the NFL but I am unsure of the exact ranking of them. I think Henry should be the #1 RB on the game with McCaffrey being injured and Henry being rated 98 or 99. I think McCaffrey should be 2nd highest, then Dalvin Cook, and Nick Chubb at 4. I agree with Alvin Kamara’s ranking and rating. Aaron Jones and Saquon Barkley are correct ranking wise but both should be higher rated. Josh Jacobs should be ranked 10th on this list with Zeke and Mixon both being ahead of him.
Now, to speak about the Wide Receivers.
- Davante Adams: 99
- DeAndre Hopkins: 98
- Tyreek Hill: 98
- Stefon Diggs: 97
- Julio Jones: 95
- Michael Thomas: 94
- Keenan Allen: 93
- Amari Cooper: 92
- Mike Evans: 91
- Allen Robinson: 90
I disagree with these ratings more than I do with the running backs. Adams deserves to be 99 and be the best receiver in the NFL. D-Hop, Hill, Diggs and Julio Jones I also agree with. Michael Thomas is a hard conversation because he was the best receiver in the league 2 seasons ago but was injured a lot last season so i’ll give him 6th best. Keenan Allen is a talented player but does not deserve to be 7th best receiver and probably not even in the top 10. Amari Cooper as well does not deserve to be in this list. Mike Evans and Allen Robinson should leapfrog both of them and the two other spots should go to A.J Brown and D.K Metcalf.
