100 Thieves Projected 2023 LCS Roster

LCS

Free agency is officially underway all across the world. While teams are still waiting to announce their signings, the rumors swirling around this offseason are some of the most dramatic the LCS has seen in a long time.

If the rumors are true, every team except for CLG is making at least one roster change. FlyQuest is rumored to be making the most changes, with a complete rebuild from their 2022 Summer lineup. Dignitas, 100 Thieves, and Team Liquid are rumored to be replacing all but one of their players. The players remaining on their roster are speculated to be 100T Closer, DIG Spawn, and TL CoreJJ.

100T Bjergsen and 100T Doublelift

While each of these rosters are incredibly exciting on their own, 100 Thieves’ supposed lineup has been the main talking point of the LCS community. While they were reportedly in discussions with 2020 Summer Split MVP Spica, the former TSM jungler supposedly received a better offer from FlyQuest. Because of this, 100T is retaining star jungler Can “Closer” Çelik and replacing the remainder of their Summer 2022 roster. This marks the end of that roster’s three-split stint together since their Summer 2021 LCS Championship victory.

Rebuilding around Closer, 100T is expected to promote both Milan “Tenacity” Oleksij and Alan “Busio” Cwalina to fill their top lane and support vacancies, respectively. While these changes are exciting for long-time 100T fans, the names drawing most people’s attention are Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg and Yiliang “Peter” “Doublelift” Peng.

Following Ian Victor “FBI” Huang’s and Felix “Abbedagge” Braun’s exit from the organization, 100T immediately took interest in rumors that Doublelift would be returning to professional play. The 8x LCS Champion is one of the most decorated players to ever compete and attracted the attention of multiple top-tier LCS teams. While he was being recruited, Doublelift expressed interest in playing with his former teammate Bjergsen, who he’d last played with in Summer 2020. With a vacancy in the mid-lane from Braun’s departure, 100 Thieves have reportedly signed both players to their roster for 2023.

If Old Dogs Cannot Learn New Tricks

While many fans were excited for Doublelift’s return to professional play, it appears that 100 Thieves are concerned he may not be the player he once was. Doublelift is currently slated to compete on the starting LCS lineup; however, 100T has also signed 2022 LEC 1st Team All-Pro ADC and former MAD Lions player William “UNF0RGIVEN” Nieminen to their academy lineup. 100T has never signed players to their academy roster as decorated as experienced as Nieminen. This has left many people with the impression that he will be their backup in case Doublelift underperforms expectations.

Nieminen’s status as a top ADC in the LEC has brought about great speculation from the community regarding his decision to move. Cloud9 streamer and former professional player Christian “IWDominate” Rivera felt that Nieminen’s move is likely based on the fact that he thinks he is better than Doublelift and can take the starting spot.
